About Us

Our Story

Christian Academy of the Smokies is the manifested vision of the members of Victory Baptist Church. The body of believers identified a need for a Bible-based educational opportunity for the children of Sevier County. Under the direction of Pastor Aaron Swain and his father, longtime education administrator William Swain, the school was founded in 2010.

The goal of the school has always been to provide a Christ-centered education where every effort is made to give Jesus Christ first place in all things. At CAS, the Word of God is the basis for all we do and teach. We seek to train the whole child:

  • Spiritually – To know Christ personally as well as to know and to surrender to His will in every area of life. Ephesians 2:8-10
  • Mentally – To relate all truth to The Truth, Jesus Christ, as revealed in God’ Word. Proverbs 9:10, John 14:6
  • Socially – To enable students to develop godly relationships with others; to stand alone when necessary; to live in the world, yet not be of the world; to be ambassadors and servants of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:32, Philippians 1:21, John 15:12, II Corinthians 5:17-21
  • Emotionally – To develop a Christ-controlled personality that can give thanks in and for all things. Philippians 4:6,11; II Tim. 1:7 I Thessalonians 5:21, Ephesians 5:20, , Galatians 5:22-23
  • Physically – To take care of the body, to instill respect for the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, and to use it for the glory of God. I Corinthians 6:19,20

Our Mission

Our mission is to fulfill the threefold given to believers in the Great Commission as found in Matthew 28:18-20. To teach each student who Jesus Christ is and encourage him to begin a personal relationship with Him as Savior and Friend. We will endeavor to see each student become an active and contributing member of a local New Testament church. We will teach each student the importance of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ by putting Him in His proper place in his life as his Lord. This should be seen in a life of obedience to all things God has given us in His Word.

Our Statement of Faith

  • We believe in the verbal/plenary inspiration of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments.
  • We believe that God preserved His Word for His saints. We believe that the King James Version of the Bible is God’s Word for the English-speaking people.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the virgin born Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit and is fully God and perfect humanity united without mixture.
  • We believe that man is born with a sinful nature and is in need of a New Birth.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of all mankind as our substitutionary sacrifice.
  • We believe that all those who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit, have become children of God, and receive the gift of eternal life.
  • We believe in the local church – a called out assembly of born again believers who have voluntarily joined themselves together to carry out the Great Commission.
  • We believe in the eternal security of the believer.
  • We believe in the personal, premillennial, pretribulational, imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord and His ascension into heaven.
  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust. We believe in the everlasting blessedness of the just and the everlasting punishment of the lost (Heaven and Hell).

About Fine Arts

  • At Christian Academy of the Smokies we encourage our students to express their creativity and gifts through the outlets of music, performing, and visual arts.
  • We have been blessed with several talented musicians who are willing to help pass on their skills to our students. The CAS fine arts program has won and placed in national. Students will perform in choirs, ensembles, and orchestras. They will also have the opportunity to sign up for private lessons to develop skills in several musical instruments and voice.

Support CAS

  • The community will have multiple opportunities to help financially support Christian Academy of the Smokies and help us make our educational program available to more families.
  • Every fall CAS hosts the Falltastic Celebration at Chestnut Hill Park. Tickets can be purchased to attend this event where families will hear live music, play games, and enjoy great food as we enjoy the beginning of Fall as a community.
  • In the early spring the academy will host an Art Show. Tickets are sold and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase art projects created by the CAS students and donated from local artists.
  • The final annual fundraiser is the CAS Online Auction. The school accepts donations to be auctioned including passes to local attractions, donated items, and gift cards.
  • All of these fundraisers are made possible by the “Friends of the Academy” (FOA). This organization was founded around the same time as the school. It’s purpose is to help “hold up the arms” of the CAS staff by assuming the burden of fundraising and helping to provide important materials needed for the operation of the school. Ask the office administration for helping to become a part of this organization which offers many benefits.
